Before you can begin decorating successfully, it is critical to understand color. And the first step to understanding color is to learn about the basic color wheel.

The Basic Color Wheel

Here is a basic color wheel...

The colors you see are red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple (violet). Much like a rainbow you see.

The color wheel is made up of primary colors and secondary colors.

The primary colors are red, yellow and blue.

The secondary colors are orange, green and violet.

The secondary colors are made from the primary colors.

Red and yellow = orange

Yellow and blue = green

Red and blue = violet
