Q: Am working on Roman Shade for double windows @ 78" total width; using straight style w/wood slats to be inserted. Should rings be placed the same as normal width window(ex:40")at middle & sides only or should more rings be placed as 2 windows together? ~ Greta

A: Since your using wood slats to support your shade you can get away with less rings. But I would be weary of only putting rings every 40". Too much space between rings will cause swagging. Your wood slats will bow under the weight of the fabric.

I would put a column of rings on each edge... one in the middle... and a row of columns in the middle of each of the windows. This would be a total of 5 lift cords... spaced about 18" apart.

For roman shades that aren't using ribs or slats, you space your rings no more than 10" apart to avoid swagging.
