Q: Sewing rubber-backed drapery lining: Does anyone else have trouble with the feeding of the fabric? My first 8 seams went great, then nothing but puckers....maybe I just need my machine cleaned! :)

~ Monica

A: If you were able to sew the first 8 seams without issue, then something has changed. A few things could be happening:

  • The needle is dull and needs to be changed. This makes a huge difference.
  • Check your stitch length. You want the longest stitch length your machine will allow.
  • Check your stitch tension. Did you change your thread? Perhaps you accidentally reset your tension? If so, test the stitch tension on a scrap piece.
