Hanging Drapes Under A Valance

Q: How far down should a rod be mounted (for panels) under a pleated valance?

A: If you hanging panels behind the window valance for a layered look... then the goal is to hide the rod. I would mount the drapery rod about 2 inches below the top edge of the window valance. This will ensure that no one can see the hardware for the draperies.
