Window Treatments
What kind of rods do they usually hang under valances

Q.  I have my panels just about done: face, interlining and black out lining.  They are gorgeous but a little heavier than I thought about.  I want to hang from rings under the valance in case I close them.  I bought a 9/16" diameter metal rod with small end cap finials.  The window is 52" from trim to trim.

Do you think my rod will hold up the weight of the 2 panels?  It came with two support brackets.
What kind of rods do they usually hang under valances so that the treatment can open and close???  I didn't want to fuss with pleats if they end up being stationery panels.

Love to sew,

Nancy

A.  If you are installing drapery panels behind a valance, then the hardware you choose does not have to be pretty... only functional.

I would install a traverse rod behind your window valance... install dapery hooks into the panel heading... and hook these into the hooks on the traverse rod.

You'll have a much smoother operation than trying to drag heavy curtains along a pole with rings.
